I love dresses that have a thing going on at the waist. They give you the idea of a hour glass figure which I clearly have not. I always dreamed of a figure like that and I’m not sure if I ever had one before I had kids or even in puberty… can’t remember. But you know how it goes: when you don’t have it you want it. Well, I can stand on my head or wait till I reach a size 0… it’s never gonna happen. And that’s okay.

I always dreamed of an hour glass figure…

Last week I read an article in dutch magazine Linda about women who train their waist. The literally train their waist by torturing themselves into a corset that gets smaller every time. They can hardly breath, let alone eat in the damn thing. One woman’s goal was to reach a 40cm waistline… that’s insane. For me it seems like back to the middle ages but it’s something these women choose to do to themselves. The ultimate feminine dream figure, like Dita von Teese. At least that’s what they believe.
Although I really like a nice waistline I am honest to myself and I would never torture my body to reach such a figure. Instead I search for dresses that give you the illusion that I have a waist and that’s the thing about fashion. You can always play with it. I must say I wear a shapewear dress underneath this dress but it’s never tight. It just smoothes the lumps and bumps and that is nice for the pictures 🙂

About the dress: it’s from Belloya and is made of a viscose jersey. Nice for hotter days and still decent enough for the office and perfect for wedding party’s for instance. The length drops just under the knee (I am 1.73 cm) and sleeves to the elbow. I fell in love with this tulip print (how can you not?) and it also comes in a minty background (see links below the last picture). I’m wearing a size 4 which is a size EU50.

See you soon!
